5 Reasons To Buy A GoPro

GoPro cameras are the newest phenomenon. Deemed "the worlds most versatile camera" GoPros are diversifying the way images are captured. I will explain my top five reasons to buy a GoPro but the combinations of two or more reasons may convince you to Add to Cart. These aren't in any particular order and there are a number of different GoPros on the market.

#1 HD Video & Photos

HD Video & Photos - the quality of these cameras is on point with any HD camera. You wouldn't think that you could get so much out of such a small device but I know some people that just use there smart phone and a GoPro to get great shots. For myself I like the HD photo Time Lapse that I use in my videos. According to the GoPro site the settings of HD quality are as followed:

  • 1080p = 1920x1080 pixels (16:9)

  • 960p = 1280x960 pixels (4:3)

  • 720p = 1280x720 pixels (16:9) @ 60FPS

  • 720p = 1280x720 pixels (16:9)

  • WVGA = 848x480 pixels (16:9)

#2 Size & Versatility

Being able to hide this is so easy! For film makers you can record with a GoPro and another camera at the same time and chances are the GoPro may not even be in the shot. The 2 sizes are GoPro Hero 4 Camera: 41.0mm height, 59.0mm width, 29.6mm depth Camera with housing: 71.3mm height, 71.1mm width, 39.0mm depth & Hero Sessions 38mm height, 38mm width, 36.4mm depth.

Mounting this camera is can be fun but it can also be a hassle. There are so many accessories that you can get to mount these cameras. My favorite is the GoPro Jaws: Flex Clamp Mount. It's the most versatile of them all. You can mount it to a number of different things or hold it at a distance.

That's just one. There are mounts for head gear for point of view shots. Suctions for vehicle exterior mounting. Chest mounts, helmet mounts, tripods and the list goes on and on. The element of the shots you get with these mounts take viewing to another level. You can get up close and personal and wide angle distant shots.

#3 Waterproof

How many cameras can you purchase for $700 or less and have everything you need to go underwater with? There are so many potential shots that you can get because the housing protects the camera from water, rain, mud, dirt. There are floating parts to attach to the camera so that it won't sink. Some of the mounts such as selfie sticks and GoPoles are water resistant. The housings do get beat up but they are not that expensive to replace.

#4 Personal or Professional

I have to admit that I have used this camera more for my kids than I have for business. The fact that the camera is so small and there are protective housings for it makes it easy for kids to use. Playing at a splash pad, riding bikes and skateboards are just some of the things my kids have done. My wife and I took it to Aruba and took it out with us to the beach, snorkeling and on our ATV tour. This camera is just flat out fun and it is the defines the American Dream of doing what you love and make money doing it.

#5 Wide Angle Lens

Having a wide angle lens may not seem like a big deal but for those breaking into video and/or photo, having one becomes a high priority as your occupation grows. Remember earlier when I stated that a combination of two or more reasons may influence you to get a GoPro? Well combine having a wide angle lens with other attributes of this versatile camera and you have a multiple reason to tell your wife why you are buying it. You might want to get a wide angle lens but you only have so much use for it. With a GoPro you get the wide angle and so much more. It is like a DSLR in a compact space. The lens is roughly 14-17mm but it varies in different settings.
